The Governor of Kano state, Rabiu Musa
Kwankwaso has accused President Goodluck
Jonathan of giving 16 governors N2billion
each to vote for Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau at
last year's Nigeria Governors' Forum election.
This was disclosed yesterday by Kwankwaso during a
meeting with an NGF team led by the Director-
general, Mr. Ashishana B. Okauru at the Government
House, Kano.
Kwankwaso said, "Each of the 16 governors that voted
Governor Jang has benefited from N2 billion from
our own money given to them free of charge. All of us
from Amaechi side were given nothing. That is not
being fair, that is not even correct and it is illegal."
The election was however won by the Rivers
Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Kwankwaso added that the federal government was
responsible for the disunity among 36 governors of
the federation just to jeopardise the collective
interest of Nigerians, and that is why they are
recognising Jang who scored 16 votes against Rivers
State governor Rotimi Amaechi who polled 19 votes
in last year's election as NGF leader.
He therefore called on governors in the country to
come together and work as brothers for rapid
progress.
Meanwhile the presidency has kept mum over the
matter as efforts to get in touch with the Special
Adviser to the President on the Media and Publicity,
Dr. Reuben Abati, to react to the allegation proved
abortive.
